HealthcareNative Android (Kotlin)Children's Health

Project Overview

florio HAEMO Kids is a companion app designed specifically for children with hemophilia who are on prophylactic treatment with factor replacement products. The app works in conjunction with the caregiver mode of the florio HAEMO app, creating an engaging experience that helps children understand and participate in their treatment.

Key Features

  • Child-Friendly Interface: Intuitive design tailored for children to easily navigate and engage with their treatment journey
  • Experience Points (XP) System: Children earn XP when caregivers log their prophylactic injections and activities
  • Superhero Badges: Unlockable achievements to motivate children and make treatment more engaging
  • Real-Time Synchronization: Seamlessly connects with the caregiver's florio HAEMO app
  • Education Component: Helps children understand the relationship between prophylaxis and factor levels

Technical Implementation

The app was built using native Android technologies with Kotlin as the primary language. We implemented secure data synchronization between the kids' app and the caregiver app via QR code scanning or temporary code entry. The gamification elements were designed to be both engaging and medically accurate, working closely with healthcare specialists.

Development Process

Challenge

Creating an engaging and educational app for children with hemophilia while ensuring accurate medical information and seamless integration with the caregiver app.

Approach

We adopted a user-centered design approach, involving both healthcare professionals and families with children who have hemophilia in the development process. The app was designed to balance entertainment with educational value.

Outcome

The florio HAEMO Kids app has received positive feedback for helping children engage with their treatment. It has been downloaded by families across Europe and has been recognized for its innovative approach to pediatric healthcare.
